What is Windows To Go?

Windows To Go is a feature in Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education that enables the creation of a Windows To Go workspace that can be booted from a USB-connected external drive on PCs. -https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/planning/windows-to-go-overview

Prerequisites

Installing Windows 11 on USB

  1. Plug in the USB flash drive, 32GB or larger
  2. Download the Windows 11 iso
  3. Download Rufus version 2.0 or later Download
  4. Run the Rufux application
  5. Select the target USB device (double check the selection, all data on the USB device will be destroyed)
  6. Click the Select button next to Disk or ISO image > Browse to and select the downloaded Windows 11 iso file
  7. Select Windows To Go from the Image option dropdown
  8. Select MBR from the Partition scheme dropdown
  9. Click the Start button to write the modified installation media to the target USB device
  10. Wait for Rufus to write the files to the USB device
  11. That's it! Boot to the USB device on any machine you wish to run the portable Windows 11 environment on
